Anxiety & Emotional Overwhelm
Anxiety is not always simply about stress. For many people, anxiety develops over years of internal pressure, unresolved emotional conflict, self-criticism, or difficulties in relationships. Some people experience anxiety alongside perfectionism, chronic worry, emotional exhaustion, or a persistent sense of needing to hold everything together. Therapy can help us begin to understand not only the symptoms themselves, but also the deeper emotional patterns that may contribute to ongoing anxiety and overwhelm.
Relationship Patterns & Attachment
Many people find themselves repeating painful relationship dynamics despite understanding them intellectually. You may struggle with conflict, emotional closeness, fear of abandonment, people-pleasing, emotional withdrawal, or difficulty trusting others. Often, these patterns develop within earlier relationships and continue outside of awareness in adulthood. Psychotherapy can help bring these dynamics into clearer focus and create space for new ways of relating to oneself and others.
Addiction & Substance-Use Counselling
Substance use problems rarely develop in isolation. For many people, alcohol or drugs become a way of managing emotional pain, loneliness, anxiety, self-criticism, trauma, or experiences that feel difficult to bear alone. While substances may provide temporary relief, they often begin to create additional suffering over time, affecting relationships, work, physical health, and one's sense of self. Recovery is rarely a straightforward process. Many people find themselves caught between a desire to change and a wish to return to familiar ways of coping. Feelings of shame, discouragement, or uncertainty are common and can make it difficult to reach out for support. Psychotherapy can provide a space to better understand the emotional and relational factors that contribute to substance use. Together, we can explore not only the addiction itself, but also the underlying experiences, patterns, and vulnerabilities that may sustain it. As insight and emotional understanding deepen, new ways of coping and relating can begin to emerge. I work with individuals who are early in recovery, returning to recovery following a relapse, or seeking ongoing support as they work toward lasting change.
